The department is located on the Upper Campus of the University. Directions to the campus are given below. Visitor's parking can be found on Ring Road - please obtain a visitor parking disc from the Visitor's Reception and Information Centre (next to the Sport Centre on the city side entrance to the campus).

Directions To Upper Campus from Cape Town

The University of Cape Town's Groote Schuur Campus is situated on the slopes of Devil's Peak in the suburb of Rondebosch. To reach the Upper Campus from the city, drive along De Waal Drive passing Groote Schuur Hospital on the way. Just beyond the Old Mill on your left, take the Rosebank/University turn-off. Turn right at the traffic lights and go under the De Waal Drive bridge to the northern entrance of the campus. Please check in at the Information Office opposite the Sports Centre where directions, campus maps and temporary visitors' parking permits may be obtained.

Directions to the EGS Department

Once you have obtained a parking disc, proceed up Ring Road past the access controlled security gates. You will pass a first bus stop on the left - keep going to the top of Ring Road. Next to the second bus to you will see South Lane to the left and visitor parking bays to the right. The EGS department is situated to the right down South Lane, in the Shell Environmental & Geographical Science building.
